Urodziłem się w 1939 roku w Sławkowie. Do czasu szkoły średniej mieszkałem i uczyłem się w Sosnowcu. We Wrocławiu ukończyłem Technikum Ekonomiczne. W 1959 roku rozpocząłem studia na Wydziale Filologii Polskiej Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego. Tok studiów ukończyłem w 1964 roku, natomiast magisterium uzyskałem w 1979 roku na podstawie wydanej przez siebie książki "Poezja konkretna". Zawierała ona prace, życiorysy i biobibliografię autorów - konkretystów polskich.

Organizowałem sesje i wystawy poezji konkretnej, zarówno krajowej jak i zagranicznej. Sam uprawiam poezję konkretną od 1967 roku. Ponieważ przez cały okres szkoły średniej oraz studiów dręczyła mnie myśl dlaczego wiersz, opowiadanie, powieść, itp. zaczynają się w jakimś tam miejscu i kończą w jakimś, postanowiłem tworzyć utwory pozbawione tego aspektu, ograniczając się do samego czystego tekstu.

Od 1968 roku pokazuję swoje prace, a od 1971 roku jestem na stałe związany z Galerią Foksal w Warszawie. Szefował jej Wiesław Borowski, który nigdy nie pytał mnie co ja będę robił, tylko co będę do realizacji wystawy potrzebował. W Galerii Foksal powstały moje najlepsze dzieła: prace cyfrowe, instalacje: "Między", "Żyłki", itp.
Nigdy nie tytułowałem swoich prac, nazywałem je tylko: "Pojęciokształty. Poezja konkretna".

Od czasu, gdy zacząłem wystawiać, mam w swoim dorobku około 300 wystaw krajowych i zagranicznych - indywidualnych i zbiorowych. Moje prace znajdują się w muzeach krajowych i zagranicznych.

Stanisław Drożdż zmarł 29 marca 2009 roku.

Stanisław Dróżdż was born in Sławków wn 1939. He is a member of the Union of Polish Artists.
His poems - both the traditional and concrete - have been published in numerous magazines and exhibition catalogues in Poland and abroad.
He started writing poetry in 1964. In 1967/1968 he begun writing concrete poems. In 1979 he has edited a book "Poezja konkretna" (Concrete poetry).
Because of its specific character concrete poetry requires to be shown in space; Dróżdż makes individual exhibitions and participates in group shows, and since 1974 works on steady basis with museums and galleries. He has been active in animating the concrete movement in Poland, and has organized numerous theoretical symposiums focusing on concrete poetry.

"In the times of my secondary school and my university studies the idea had often recurred to me: why is it so that a poem, a story, a novel etc. begin just in some given place and come to an end just in another one? - so I have set my mind on producing works that are devoid of such a feature, confining myself to the pure text".

Stanislaw Drozdz died on 29 March 2009.

Stanisław Dróżdż geboren am 15. Mai 1939 in Sławków (Polen). In den Jahren 1959-1964 studierte er Philologie (Polonistik) an der Universitat Wrocław, wo er anhand der vorgelegten Diplomarbeit und der fruher veroffentlichten Antologie der konkreten Dichtung in Polen im Jahre 1979 den Magistertitel erhielt. Bis jetzt ist es die einzige in Polen veroffentlichte vollstandige Faktographie und Bibliographie der konkreten Dichtung in Polen. An der konkreten Dichtung arbeitet er schon seit dem Jahr 1967, indem er an etwa 300 individuellen und kollektiven Ausstellungen in Polen und im Ausland teilgenommen hat, viele Texte in den Katalogen und Zeitschriften veroffentlichte u.a. Neben eigenen Arbeiten propagiert er aktiv die internationalen Werke der konkreten Dichtung in Polen und die polnischen Werke im Ausland (Ausstelungen, Veroffentlichungen, theoretische und kritische Seminare). Seine Arbeiten wurden mehrmals in Polen und im Ausland ausgezeichnet. Mit seiner Tatigkeit wurde die konkrete Dichtung in der modernen polnischen Literatur und Kunst bestatigt.

Stanislaw Drozdz starb am 29. März 2009.
